Get Acquainted
We are located in Laguna Niguel, southern Orange County, southern California, south of Los Angeles, north of San Diego.  We perform in SoCal from San Diego County to Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, plus Palm Springs and surrounding desert regions.

Auditions for Musicians
We have flexible instrumentataion: a player might handle mutliple instruments even within a single suite. We are interested in meeting with players interested in our projects blending classical music, jazz, and standards.
Our guidelines are:
∙ One shoudl be familiar with a broad range of works by Western composers of the Romantic Period especially, plus Baroque and some modern. One should have basic experience performing classical, e.g., in prep school or university.
∙ One should perform on more than one instrument
∙ One should be able to read parts from lead sheets, piano/vocal charts, scores, as well as classical piano music.
∙ It is helpful if one reads concert pitch directly, or transposes at sight. That is, sax, clarinet, or soprano brasses might transpose at sight to concert pitch during some rehearsals.
∙ One should have ideas for arranging and interpreting classical music. It is necessary to be familiar with practical harmony and chords
If one wishes to audition, we seek primary or backup players on drums/percussion, bass (particularly standup acoustic bass with a bow), guitar, brasses, reeds, and keyboard+piano.   Bass, piano, or guitar often read classical piano or organ music (with two or three staves).  Guitarist must know chords and practical harmony thoroughly.  Drummer should be creative with a range of percussion, excellent with brushes, plus play a tonal/melodic instrument.

We create shows for your social settings:
format with audience mostly in quiet conversation and mostly listening; appropraiate for prelude to a professional event or conference or as the featured concert event for university, school, or community program.  Here we perform more of our classical suites among a variety of well-known songs.
format as in dinner club or cocktail party atmosphere with varying levels of background conversation, ongoing foodservice and activities, including music preceding and continiuing through hors d'oeuvres and dinner.  Here we perform some classical suites as appropriate.
format complements a party with guests' ongoing conversations, walking about, dancing, active hubub.  Here we generally do few classical suites and more pop styles, standards, swing, Latin jazz, etc., as requested
Brass on Ivory is ready for events both formal and casual, hosted by corporations or LLCs, by non-profit organizations, public-sector and governmental agencies, and small businesses.  We are glad to work with your planner to make your event successful and memorable.
